Inner Tube Onion Rings

Ingredients
  • 2 sheets Nagai Soyeat pink soy sheet wrap
  • 8 round onion slices (1/2-inch-thick, outer rings)
  • 4½ Tbsp. tempura flour
  • Scant 1/4 cup sparkling water (or ice water)
  • A dash of salt
  • Cooking oil for deep-frying the onion rings
Directions
  1. Sprinkle  the onion rings with 1 tbsp. of the tempura flour.
  2. Slice  the soy sheets lengthwise into 4 strips each and wrap 1 around each of the  onion rings.
  3. Gently  mix together the remaining tempura flour and sparking water (or ice  water).
  4. Dredge  the soy sheet-wrapped onion rings in tempura batter and deep-fry in 340°F oil. Remove from oil and cool on a cooling rack. Sprinkle with salt.
