Spicy Five Spice Beef Katsu

Ingredients
  • 2 large steaks - sirloin, filet mignon, or flank steak
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 Tbsp. Dynasty Chinese Five Spices
  • 1 large egg whisked
  • 1 cup Dynasty panko bread crumbs
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • Cooked Nishiki White Rice for serving
  • Shredded cabbage for serving
  • Cherry tomatoes, for serving
  • Dipping sauce of choice
Directions
  1. Slice the two steaks down the center and pound them into 1/2-inch of thickness. Season each side with Salt and pepper.
  2. In one bowl, combine the flour and Dynasty Chinese Five Spices. Add the egg in a second bowl and the panko bread crumbs in a third bowl.
  3. Moving quickly, dip the steak in the flour mixture, followed by the egg then the panko bread crumbs.
  4. Add oil to a non-stick pan and place it over medium heat. Once it reaches a temperature of at least 350F, add the panko steaks and cook for 4-5 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  5. Remove the steaks from the oil and place them on a paper towel to soak up excess oil.
  6. Serve with Nishiki White Rice, shredded cabbage, cherry tomatoes, and a dipping sauce of your choice!
